I’m always honored when fellow creatives compliment my website design. I’ve poured a lot of love into this online space over the years… and I also get a lot of questions about how I created my own custom Showit website.
What is Showit?
My website is designed on Showit: a website platform built for creative control. It allows us to create a highly customized website design—and it’s easy for you to update in the future. The drag-and-drop interface is intuitive and easy to navigate… plus, the entire platform is built on top of WordPress, making it ideal for SEO.
Overall, this is why I choose to design with Showit:
Creative Freedom
Easy Drag-and-Drop Interface
SEO-Friendly
WordPress Blog Integration
Mobile-Friendly
Dev Support Team
There is so much to love about this platform. Let’s take a look in more detail:
Why choose the Showit platform?
Creative Freedom
As a Designer, I love it Showit for the creative freedom. The drag-and-drop interface makes it possible for us to truly customize your website into a completely unique design.
Your website is quite possibly the most important touchstone of your brand. It’s the online home of your business—it’s the way you introduce yourself to potential clients and industry peers. It’s the place where you can turn potential clients into booked clients. It is SO important to make an impression with a website design that feels polished, professional, and personal. No other platform allows as much creative customization as Showit does (and there’s no code involved! 🙌)
Easy Drag-and-Drop Interface
Your website is ever-changing. You will want to add new images or update your own wording… maybe even update colors or add new pages every once in awhile. Showit’s drag-and-drop interface is intuitive (and it’s all visual: no code required).
There is nothing more frustrating than working with a designer to launch a custom website—and then feeling like you’re unable to make a simple update to your text or photos. Showit makes sure that will never happen! I want you to walk away with a polished website design that also allows for easy updates. Showit sets you up for success, ensuring that your web design will serve you well into the future.
SEO-Friendly
On the backend, the Showit platform is actually built on top of WordPress—one of the most robust choices for SEO integration. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is how you make your website known on Google. Showit is built to be SEO-friendly: you can easily update Titles, Descriptions, and Alt Tags. Your blog posts are set up for SEO success, including the option to install a free Yoast plugin that will help monitor your keywords and rankings.
WordPress Blog Integration
WordPress is a tried-and-true standard for blogging. And it’s part of the Showit framework! You’ll draft blog posts in WordPress and publish them to your Showit website (don’t worry, it’s super easy!). Plus, all your posts are set up to be SEO-friendly. Add bonus points if you already use a WordPress site: all your media will transfer over into the new media library.
Mobile-Friendly
Showit’s visual interface allows you to design for both desktop and mobile screens. It’s no secret that mobile devices account for a significant percentage of online browsing: if your mobile design is not as strong as it should be, you might be losing clients. Showit makes it possible to customize your mobile design—so it can be tailored as needed for phone browsing. Not to mention, seamless mobile design is also hugely important for SEO.
Development Support Team
The Showit support team is incredible. It’s like having a web developer at your fingertips to answer any questions. The online chat is available 24/7, and team members have always been quick to respond to my messages… plus, they’re known to use plenty of emojis and gifs to make the experience as fun as possible! 😉
Frequent questions about Showit:
Choosing a website platform is a big decision, and you may have some questions before you commit. Here are a few common Q&As that might help inform your decision:
Is a domain included in my Showit subscription? No, you will need to purchase your domain elsewhere. If you’ve already purchased a domain, Showit handles the transfer process so you can use your existing domain with Showit.
Is an email included in my Showit subscription? No, email hosting is not included. However, you can easily set up your personalized domain emails using G-Suite.
Can I add an e-commerce shop? The e-commerce side of Showit is currently limited (using embed buttons through Shopify).
Can I integrate my CRM and other online tools? Yes! You can use copy-and-paste embed codes to integrate other software. For example, you can embed an online scheduling calendar via HoneyBook or Calendly.
Is Showit a good fit for my business?
In my opinion, Showit is an ideal platform for service-based creative businesses. In particular, I recommend Showit for businesses who are showcasing a portfolio of work and selling 1:1 services.
Showit is not a great fit for businesses who are using their website primarily for e-commerce. E-commerce brands should ideallly choose Shopify or Squarespace as their website design platform.
E-commerce shops (we recommend Shopify or Squarespace)
Hosting online courses (you can sell courses via Showit, but content should be hosted on Kajabi or Thrivecart)
Hosting a membership (you can sell memberships via Showit, but we recommend Kajabi or Thrivecart for hosting the membership)
