How to use Pinterest & Flodesk together for an effective long-term marketing strategy
Here’s why I recommend Pinterest (my favorite place to grow my audience) and Flodesk (the best email marketing platform) for creative professionals who want to create a sustainable marketing strategy:
It’s no secret that I love Pinterest: it’s my favorite way to market my business in a way that feels effective and sustainable. And I also love my Flodesk email list: it’s my favorite way to communicate with my audience. Why? Because it fosters conversation in a way that no other platform does. It’s a space where I can write intentional content that lasts more than a 30-second video clip or a two-sentence caption. My email list is a place to connect with people—to share what’s on my heart and mind, and to spark conversations about what feels meaningful. I’m always honored when people respond to share their own reflections with me… it feels like a much more meaningful way to connect than a quick double-tap.
Since leaving instagram, I’ve focused on Pinterest marketing to increase leads and generate revenue. With millions of monthly impressions, my Pinterest account is drawing a lot of new eyes to my content… but how do I get those new audience members to stay with me?
That’s where beautiful email marketing comes in. Pinterest and Flodesk are a match made in heaven: Pinterest acts like an evergreen search engine for my brand, putting my content in front of new audiences. But I don’t want the marketing cycle to stop there… I want to invite those new audiences from Pinterest into a space where I can communicate with them—where I can share more who I am, what I offer, and how we can connect. In order to leverage those Pinterest impressions, I need to incentivize those audiences to take the next step into my brand: signing up for my email list, where I can communicate with them in a more dedicated space.
How does email list building work?
Ready to turn Pinterest impressions into email subscribers? Flodesk makes it so easy to start building your email list. Here’s a quick overview of how it works!
1. Create an opt-in form:
This is where people sign up for your list. You can create a Flodesk landing page form (this is the easiest / quickest option!)… or you can create a form that will be embedded into your website. Flodesk has stunning templates for these forms, making it easy for your brand to look polished and professional when people sign up for your list. It takes about two seconds, and it looks beautiful!
*Tip: Waitlists are another great way to build an email list of interested potential customers. If you are working on a new offer, don’t wait to tell people about it… share what you’re working on, and offer your audience a chance to sign up for a waitlist. When you’re ready to launch the new offer, you’ll have an email list full of leads who are excited to purchase from you.
2. Incentivize your audience to sign up for your list.
Once you have the form published, you need to incentivize people to use it! Encourage people to sign up for your list, gradually building a dedicated audience of email subscribers. There are a ton of ways to incentivize email sign ups… but here are a few ideas:
Share your form on your website
Share your form at the end of your blog posts
Share your form in your instagram profile or link in bio
*Reminder: it’s okay to start small. When I started out, my only two subscribers were my husband’s mom and his Grandmama! My email list has since grown to over 12k+ subscribers. (But I’m grateful to say they are both still active members 😉).
3. Nurture your list.
Now that people are on your list, you need to start a conversation with them. Help them get better acquainted with you and your brand: who are you? What do you offer? How can you serve them? This is your chance to offer helpful resources and inspiration—building trust before your ask for a sale.
Here’s where it gets even better: using Flodesk workflows, you can schedule emails to send on an automated timeline. When people sign up for my email list, they get one email from me each month for a full year. I’m sending 12 thoughtfully crafted emails to connect with my subscribers—but those emails are all automated. I wrote those emails years ago, but they still are running in the background without me having to do any extra work! Of course, I can also still send some emails manually if I want to share anything new or time-sensitive.
So why is Flodesk is the best email marketing platform? It’s all about brand continuity:
Yes, Flodesk has a ton of great features. But honestly? Other email marketing platforms do too. The thing about Flodesk you can’t get anywhere else is the beautiful design experience.
When new subscribers join my list, I want them to feel welcomed into my brand. They should experience a continuity of the visual aesthetic that drew them to my content in the first place. I would hate for their journey to be interrupted by a brand cohesion stumbling block—like receiving an email that felt out of touch with what they had come to expect from me and my brand.
I’m taking my audience on a journey… from their first impression of me on Pinterest, onto my email list, and eventually into making a purchase decision. Their experience should feel tailored, cohesive, and thoughtful.
Flodesk offers beautiful and EASY design customization. Flodesk templates are elevated, tasteful, and polished—without sacrificing personality. You can easily update all design elements to reflect your brand fonts and colors… and you can even integrate Canva designs for a completely custom experience (🤯).
It’s so important for this customer journey to feel seamless—especially when your leads are coming from Pinterest, which is a heavily visual platform. Your Pinterest audience is paying attention to aesthetics. They are attuned to visual design, and are expecting a cohesive visual experience.
A consistent brand identity is essential to establishing trust and turning a cold audience into an engaged email list of customers and brand advocates. I’m so grateful that Flodesk focuses on this aspect of email marketing—allowing me to communicate with my audience in a way that feels elevated, polished, and in alignment with my brand identity.
