Why should you include your brand in your workspace?
As creative entrepreneurs, we may not always have large workspaces or the flashy offices of a bigger company. Many of us are crafting work from a home office or shared co-working space. For some, the “office” is simply the nearest coffee shop or an open corner of the kitchen table.
Wherever you work, it’s an important space. It’s the space where you create. Where you explore ideas, create beautiful work, and serve your clients well. It ought to be a space that inspires and roots you—a space that feels like your own brand, even in just the small things.
After we craft your custom brand design, I encourage you to incorporate visual elements of your brand into your workspace… Why? I think there are a few benefits!
Stay inspired. With the work that we do, it’s important to cultivate an atmosphere of creativity—a place where we feel comfortable, energized, and inspired. An on-brand workspace reminds us of our purpose.
Stay on-brand. It’s important to stay rooted in our brand values while we create new work or discern potential new projects. Touchpoints of your own brand design can help you stay focused and hone your style.
Polished presentation. Your clients and colleagues will likely see a peek of your office in one way or another. Whether you meet clients in person, or show up on video calls… the space around you sets a tone for the meeting.
Ready to incorporate your brand into your workspace? I have a few ideas for you below!
My recent client Sami (Sami Kathryn Photography) added intentional touches of her brand throughout her office, and I wanted to share a few of those ideas with you here… along with a few additional thoughts!
Small Details:
Business Card Holder: Display your business cards on your desk or shelves, using a stylish holder.
Mousepad: Sami printed her brand pattern on a custom mousepad design—what a fun idea! It adds the perfect touch of her brand to her desktop.
Moodboard: I always recommend keeping a brand moodboard on display near your desk. Glance at it every time you accept a project—will this project help you build your brand vision?
Styled Shelves: If you have shelves in your office, why not use them to incorporate a hint of your brand? Sami framed her logo and styled it among her favorite books, photos, and flowers.
Coffee Mug: It’s no secret that this industry runs on caffeine (I’m on my fourth cup now!). A branded coffee mug is a fun way to bring your brand into the workspace, no matter where you work! *This is also a great option if you’re usually working on the go. Bring your branded travel mug to your coffeeshop of the day… you never know who might ask you about your business!
Notepads: if your heart flutters over office supplies like mine does… why not make them your own? Customize notepads, notebooks, and binders with your logo and brand elements.
Quotes: I keep my favorite Ira Glass quote on display at all times. It encourages me in all creative pursuits!
Go Big!
If you really want to make an impact, consider these big ideas to incorporate your brand into an office space! These ideas are probably best suited to a professional office setting (rather than a home office), where you will be meeting with clients and colleagues regularly.
Mural: a wall mural is an artistic way to add impact to your space. Local artists can help you transform one wall into a statement.
Wallpaper: use your brand pattern as large-scale custom wallpaper. This is a fun idea for a small space, like a bathroom accent wall.
Don’t forget to think about other elements of the room that can lend character to your space: a signature candle fragrance or focused playlist can add to the atmosphere of your workspace, setting the tone for productive and inspired creativity.
My hope for you is a workspace that feels both inspired and grounded. Creating an intentional space around us sets the tone for purposeful work. With just a few elements, you can elevate any space (no matter how big or small) into a workspace that truly feels like your own.
What do you think? How can you incorporate touches of your brand throughout your workspace? I’d love to hear your ideas!
